The Dress

Jackie wore a simple but detailed gown. Simple for its lack of lace, sequins, pearls, or beading. Detailed for its carefully pleated waistline, rouched bust, and full ballgown skirt with flounce trim and textured floral detail.

Steal Jackie's style by looking for a gown made of silk tissue taffeta with a portrait neckline and ballgown skirt with natural waist. Look for an absence of add-ons, and instead for details created through texture using the same fabric as the gown. Instead of a traditional veil on a hair comb, look for a veil that covers your head. Jackie's veil was affixed to a lace-covered tiara that encircled her head. The veil was cathedral length with light lace detailing at the end. Polished off with pearl choker and white gloves, Jackie was the essence of grace (despite the dress not being her choice!).

The Tux

Not to be outdone by his beautiful bride, JFK set his own standard for gentleman's style. With a morning tux, comprised of a black one-button cutaway, grey waistcoat, and striped trousers. A white collared shirt and a pattern tied, finished with plain-toe black leather oxfords. JFK polished of his look with a white pocket square and boutonnière in his lapel.

The Details

A mix of white and pink, Jackie's bouquet included spray orchids and gardenias. The bridesmaids wore pink taffeta gowns with a modest bodice and a full skirt. Twelve hundred guests were enteretained by Meyer Davis' orchestra and served a four foot tall cake at Hammersmith Farm in Rhode Island.
